Math has a wide-spread reputation for being the subject students hate. It’s not uncommon to hear “I hate math class” or “math is too hard” from students who are struggling. Nshimiyumukiza Pacifique too had a common feeling, and found the subject more stressing compared to other subjects.
Pacifique is a high school student pursuing Maths, Economics and Computer Science at Institut de Formation Apostolique de Kimihurura (IFAK). Despite Math being a main subject in his combination, Pacifique never liked the subject.
When Pacifique joined the Menya IoT Program, he was overwhelmed by the explanation he would receive and later on was fascinated to mathematics and being extra open minded.
“I didn’t like mathematics before I knew Menya IoT program, because when we learn in class they tell us that ‘This is the formula you have to get It so you have to use it in this question’
But you ask yourself ‘where am I going to use it in normal life?’.
Pointing out that within the program, he started being open minded and fell in love with mathematics, “But the Menya IoT Program it shows you where you gone use that mathematical formula which makes you get attracted to study that mathematics.”
He added saying that “Menya IoT program made it easier to understand the smallest problem possible. It’s fun, it’s easy to learn, It’s guided the platform is open, you ask questions directly and get answered.”
Pacifique is currently an intermediate intern within the program and will be graduating high school next year as he hopes to pursue his university studies in a field related to smart security.
